Melon Pear. Quick growing trailing plant, evergreen with white and mauve flowers and large edible fruits which turn yellow and stripey when ripe.
This evergreen shrub was a favourite of Queen Victoria's for it's small cranberry like fruit. It blooms in early summer with small pink waxy flowers, followed by the dark red edible fruits. It is best grown in a sheltered position maybe by a south facing wall. Happiest in a sunny spot in fertile well drained soil.
A very good modern seedless cultivar that can be grown outside in the south. Good reliable cropper with above average yields and excellent flavour. Approximate time of grape ripening end of September.
Honeyberry. These sweet blueberry-like fruits have been eaten for years in their native Siberia and can be enjoyed straight from the bush or in jams, pies and muffins. The sweet taste is similar to that of blueberries, with a slight aftertaste of honey. They are high in antioxidants too! 2ltr deep pot
This robust deciduous shrub has handsome, very large, deeply cut foliage. It produces big red fleshed fruit in late summer & is a heavy cropper. It is best grown in full sun in well drained rich soil. Great trained into a fan shape on a south or south west facing wall. Good grown in a pot with restricted roots.
Cape Gooseberry. A plant producing tasty glossy, orange coloured fruits, encased in a beautiful 'lantern' of leaves.
Dwarf pomegranate. A small bushy tree with glossy bright green leaves. The pretty funnel-shaped flowers turn into edible pomegranates. Will only grow to 3ft or less in height. Specimen plants 26cm pot
Lovely seedless red grape producing tight clusters of sweet red grapes if grown in an unheated greenhouse or conservatory. Will fruit well from late September if grown outside against a sunny wall in the south.
